Earl Tywater Scholarship

Every year NAFDMA awards the Earl Tywater Scholarship to a NAFDMA member who has never participated in a NAFDMA conference. Valued at more than $1,200, the scholarship covers the cost of two people from the same farm family to participate in the pre-conference bus tour, workshops, the conference, and the NAFDMA awards banquet. .
WHY?		The Earl Tywater Scholarship Fund was established as a memorial to Earl Tywater of Earl's Fruit Stand in Franklin, Tennessee. Earl was a founder and director of the North American Farmers' Direct Marketing Association whose appetite for learning and becoming a better marketer was endless. In honor of that passion, the NAFDMA Board of Directors, in cooperation with the Tywater family, established a scholarship fund in Earl's memory.
WHO?		The scholarship is open to any NAFDMA member who has never participated in a NAFDMA conference. The applicant must also meet the following eligibility requirements: Has begun some form of farm direct market enterprise and demonstrates interest in expanding their agricultural business. Business currently operates, or aspires to operate, as a multiple member family business. Established need for financial support to attend. Agrees to share NAFDMA experience with farmers in home state. Possesses leadership qualities in their local community and potentially on the national level.
WHEN?		The application process will be open from July 1 to September 30, 5:00 p.m. EST.
HOW?		Applications will be reviewed by the Earl Tywater Scholarship Selection Committee. The Selection Committee will award one membership farm or business the scholarship to be used for the next up-coming NAFDMA Conference. The winner will be announced on November 1.
